UDL LESSON PLANNING
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Universal Design for Learning is a framework that not only facilitates learning for ALL students, but increases rigor in the classroom. After an introduction to the guiding principles of UDL, the aim of this module is to guide participants through planning a lesson through the lens of UDL.

- Step-by-step UDL lesson planning guide
- Resources and tools to create UDL-focused lesson plans in participant’s own setting

- Teachers know the components of UDL and how to design a UDL-aligned lesson plan.

- Teachers can write a lesson plan that provides curriculum access to all students, regardless of learning profile or any special needs.
Mindset:
- Teachers believe that UDL is a critical pedagogy to create universal access to students with identified with disabilities and ALL learners.
- Teachers believe that student learning preferences and profiles are varied; the idea of an “average learner” does not exist. Therefore, lesson plans that do not teach concepts in multiple modalities are not reaching all learners.
