KNOWLEDGE - SKILLS - MINDSET
Knowledge:
- Special educators know how to manage and set up early elementary/childhood classrooms.
- Special educators are knowledgeable of the diagnosis process and initial IEP meeting procedures.
- Early childhood classroom set-up
- How to foster parent advocacy and provide parents with useful information
- Early intervention/early elementary special education can get services to students at the beginning of their special education journey.
- Parent advocacy begins at this stage and can be fostered by the special educator.
