CASE MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Special Educators have the dual responsibility of teaching students and preforming case management duties for each of their students. This module will detail the responsibilities of special education teachers as case managers, address timing, tasks, and problem solving situations, including out-of-compliance IEPs.

- IEP organization for the school year

- Special educators understand the responsibilities of a case manager.
- Special educators know that some inherited IEPs may be out-of-compliance and need immediate attention.

- Managing IEP deadlines and paperwork
- Organizing IEP paperwork
- Working with out-of-compliance IEPs
Mindset:
- Special Education teachers are both teachers and case managers and are required by law to manage all the IEPs of the students on their caseloads. In this regard, special educators must have dual purposes in the classroom and understand their role in both capacities.
- IEPs that have been mismanaged or are out-of-compliance must be fixed in a timely manner and are the responsibility of the case manager, regardless of who supported the child previously.
IMMEDIATE CLASSROOM ACTION
Participants of this module will receive practical solutions for handling non-compliant IEPs along with organization and IEP management solutions. They will also receive a checklist of responsibilities as a case manager.
