COURSE DESCRIPTION
Building on last year’s course on Student-Led IEPs, this module focuses on introducing IEPs to students at various grade levels and how to introduce the components of an IEP to students.

- A guided series of lessons for educators, introducing the concept of an IEP to students, including why it’s important and how to be involved in and own the IEP process.

- Teachers know the components of the IEP, the reasons why students may need an IEP and how to invest students in the IEP process.

- Teachers develop lesson plans that teach students about the components of an IEP, invest them in an IEP process, and support student involvement in the IEP process.
Mindset:
- As a special educator, it is important that we give students the instruction to understand what an IEP is, why a student would need an IEP, how it is implemented and how to be involved in the IEP process.
- By involving students in the IEP process, they can take more ownership over their education, become self-advocates and speak to their needs and strengths.
